What’s the difference between Gluten Free products and Non Gluten Containing Ingredients (NGCI) products?
The term ‘gluten free’ is protected by law and can only be used if a business has had their products tested and certified to contain 20 parts per million (ppm) or less of gluten. We have not had this testing done.
We use the term ‘Non Gluten Containing Ingredients (NGCI)’ because our NGCI products are made using ingredients that do not contain gluten.
However, there is a minuscule chance of cross-contamination in our kitchen, which is why we cannot guarantee they are free from gluten.
What precautions do you take to avoid cross-contamination?
When making NGCI products, we take as many precautions as possible to avoid cross-contamination between our core range and our NGCI range.
This includes:
- Storing our NGCI ingredients in a separate area of the kitchen.
- Ensuring all utensils used in our kitchen are washed through the dishwasher.
- Baking our core range and our vegan wheat-free range on separate days, to ensure the kitchen is thoroughly cleansed of gluten traces.
Why are none of your products Gluten Free?
Unfortunately, due to the size of our kitchen, some areas of the kitchen are shared between all product ranges.
These include our sinks, mixer, and oven.
There is a very small chance that a particle of gluten-containing ingredient could come into contact with a wheat-free product in one of these shared areas.
We take allergies very seriously and understand that gluten-related allergies can be extremely serious.
For this reason we label our products as ‘NGCI’ not ‘Gluten Free’.
Are any of your products suitable for coeliacs?
None of our products are suitable for coeliacs or those with severe allergies.
